Board of Directors

The Company is governed by a Six(7) member Board of Directors which is constituted as follows:-

Mr. Patrick K. Agyekum
He is the Managing Director (MD) of the company. Mr. P. K. Agyekum holds an MBA from GIMPA Graduate School (Ghana). He is a professional Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). Mr. Agyekum has completed the Applied Insurance Studies Diploma and Advance Diploma programmes of the Malta International Training Centre in conjunction with the Ghana Insurance College. He has taken numerous courses in Financial Management, Investment, Insurance and Risk Management among other things.
Mr. Agyekum has served on the Boards of several organizations, including Leasafric Ghana Limited where he was also a member of the Board Audit Committee. He is currently a member of the Boards of TV Africa Limited and Micro and Small Business Finance and Development Foundation.
Mr. Agyekum has previous experience in the Insurance Industry in Ghana, having spent about four years at Crusader Insurance Company. He worked as an Accountant at the Prices and Incomes Board for Nine years before joining Provident Insurance Company in July 1995 as the Chief Finance Officer. He was appointed Managing Director in January, 2009.
 

Mrs. Joycelyn Rena Von Ballmoos
She is the Head of the General Insurance Department of the Company. She has been in the insurance field for over 20 years and has further exposure in the Insurance Industry in Britain. She is an Executive Director of the Company.

Mr. Rudolf Von Ballmoos
He is the Executive Chairman and Managing Director of the company since its inception in 1982. He attended University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. from 1956 – 1959 and obtained Bsc. (Economics) with a major in insurance. He worked with various insurance and banking institutions including Crusader Insurance - Ghana, Providence Insurance - Liberia, Bank of Liberia and State Insurance Corporation, Ghana from 1965 – 1980. He was the Head of the Life Department of State Insurance

Corporation until he left in 1980. Has been a member and chairman of the Board of various institutions e.g. Consolidated Discount House, Consolidated Assets Management Company among others.

Mr. Wilson Q. Tei
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Provident Insurance Company. He will be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Provident Life Assurance Company. He is a Professional Insurance Underwriter. He holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Insurance Management (M.I.T.C, Malta 2005) and Contractual Savings Certificate in supervisory and regulatory issues in private pensions and life assurance (World Bank, Washington D.C. 2003). He also holds an Executive Development Certificate from the Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Witwaters Rand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a certificate in Risk Management from School of Administration, Legon, Basic and Advanced Securities from the Ghana Stock Exchange, and Life underwriting and Reassurance Administration from Swiss Re in 1980. Mr. Tei has Six (6) passes in the Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifying examinations.

Mr. Tei has over thirty four (35) years in life assurance practice, twenty six (26) of this in managerial capacity. He was Head of Group Life Insurance Administration at the SIC between 1977 and 1980. In 1978, he was seconded on a Technical Exchange Programme to the Zambia State Insurance Corporation Life and Pensions Division. Mr. Tei was invited by the Government of Ghana to serve on the Committee that drafted the Long Term Savings Act (LSTA) between 2002 and 2004. In 2006, he was invite again by the same Government to serve on the Technical Committee to review the LTSA, 2004.
 Mr. Tei is the immediate past President of the Ghana Insurers Association and currently a member of the National Insurance Commission Board.
